Four semi-detached houses in the coastal area of Castelldefels, set on a flat plot scattered with pine trees just a few meters from the beach. The bioclimatic design brings additional interior comfort while saving resources, with the houses integrated into the context through their materiality — open to the best views and aligned to the north-south orientation.
A rectangular wooden volume sits on a stone veneer base. Lattice panels and various pergolas provide solar protection and give the façade its formal character.
The energy performance is optimised through both passive and active strategies. Solar protection elements, cross ventilation, ventilated roofs, and a façade study that eliminates thermal bridges form the passive layer.
On the active side, the basement excavation is used to install a geothermal system integrated with the houses' air renewal. The result: fresh, clean air with controlled humidity, and a notably lower energy bill.
The houses are distributed across three floors plus a basement garage. The ground floor holds a generous double-height living-dining room. The second floor contains the bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and wardrobe. On the top floor, a work area opens onto a terrace overlooking the sea and the carpet of pines below.
